Procons versatile machines enable large-scale manufacturing of metal products

IMG 0298

Procons has made significant machinery investments during 2023–2024. The total investment amounted to approximately €1.3 million. During the same period, Procons’ turnover rose from €4.4 million to €6 million. The current machinery is suitable for large-scale production and mass manufacturing, making Procons especially competitive for larger order volumes.

— The investments were made to meet customer needs and to prepare for future demands. We compete on volume – the larger the batches, the lower the cost for the customer. With the current machinery, we can cost-effectively produce large batches of bent components, explains CEO Klas-Erik West.

Mass production of steel profiles and metal fasteners

Durable metal structures are currently in high demand, particularly in renewable energy construction projects, such as the construction of solar energy fields. Metal products are used, for example, to support structures, install equipment, and ensure durability.

The versatile machinery allows for the cost-effective production of profiles in various sizes and shapes for all applications where large-scale mass production is needed.

— We supply products to, among other things, automated warehouses that can hold up to 1,000–2,000 tons of steel profiles and additionally around 500 tons of finished, stamped, and bent fasteners. We order material coils according to the product being manufactured, and blanks are stamped from these steel coils. If an individual product weighs, for example, 2 kg, we can set a competitive price with a minimum order volume of around 1,000 units. If the product weighs 5 kg or more, cost efficiency is achieved with a minimum production batch of approximately 400 units. With proper optimization in every manufacturing stage, we can reduce material waste, which directly affects the price per unit.

The machinery includes several bending machines, press lines, and punching lines

Over the past two years, the machinery has been expanded with five new machines, including various types of bending machines, press lines, and a stamping line.

Amada HG 1303 Bending Machine

The Amada HG 1303 bending machine is designed for extremely precise and demanding component bending. This machine series is among the fastest press brakes on the market.

With a pressing force of 130 tons, it allows for bending especially thick and hard materials. The maximum bending length is 3,110 mm. The machine depth (455 mm) enables deep bends, expanding the machine’s usability and enhancing the manufacturing of more complex shapes. Height (520 / 400 mm) and a long stroke length (250 mm) allow for the use of taller tools and various molds, improving the handling of parts of different sizes.

MVD iBend C220 Bending Machine

This bending machine has a working length of 6.1 meters, allowing for the bending of very large components such as beams, panels, and other long structures. With a pressing force of 220 tons, it can handle thick and hard materials like steel. The machine can produce demanding shapes and it is fast and operates efficiently, even with large and heavy components.

Sangiacomo – C-frame 200 t Press Machine / Press Line

This machine is especially suitable for punching and stamping operations that require high speed and precision. It is used, for example, as a progressive tool for multi-stage processing, such as punching holes in metal sheets or cutting shapes. This machine is particularly suitable for operations that require slower and stronger pressure.

Jorns JDB-300 Double Bending Machine 8m

The Jorns JDB double bending machine allows for simultaneous bending of complex profiles, increasing production speed. The machine can process products up to 8 meters in length. The use of double bending tools and servo technology reduces the need for rotating and moving the metal sheet, minimizing errors. The machine enables the simultaneous bending of various profiles, such as parallel, conical, or overlapping. Thanks to servo technology, individually controlled pressing fingers, and high angular precision, excellent bending accuracy is achieved.

Pivatic PCC 1250 Punching Line

On the punching line, parts are stamped directly from the steel coil. With no need for sheet changes, the efficiency of large-volume production is significantly increased, and delivery times are shortened. This line can handle materials up to 1,250 mm wide and 5 mm thick, depending on the coil width.

Every day, several deliveries are dispatched to customers. Due to increased production, Procons acquired a 1,300 square meter BestHall interim storage facility at the end of 2023.
